Dear Friends,
I want to thank you for your support since December 23, 2008.
We ran a significant and positive campaign. We kept it positive and respectable. To those who volunteered: sent emails, made calls, worked polls, gave of their resources, we are especially grateful to you.
I want to correct the Chronicle’s characterization of my position relating to the results of the March 2, 2010 Republican Primary (“Incumbents Base Losses on Ethnic Bias” 3/4/10). I have never in my life directly felt the effects of racial bias, nor have I ever accused anyone of exhibiting prejudice against me due to my Hispanic heritage. This includes my assessment of the Republican voters in this week’s Primary Election.
I am more determined than ever to work for our Republican principles and the leaders who uphold them.
Now, more than ever, we need to rally around qualified and credible leadership. Our future and our way of life is at stake.
Thank you and God bless,

Houston Texans hosting voter registration effort at Reliant Stadium
HOUSTON -- As the hometown Texans play their nationally televised Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings, they will also take their turn as the second of Houston’s professional sports team to host a voter registration drive this year in cooperation with the Harris County Tax Office.
“We are going on offense in our drive to raise awareness and register every eligible citizen in Harris County,” Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar Leo Vasquez explained. “The Texans fight for every yard on the field, and we appreciate their support of our efforts to get across our voter registration goal line.”
The Harris County voter registration team will have a table set up in Budweiser Plaza, at the south end of Reliant Stadium, throughout the game against the Minnesota Vikings.
“We’re happy to assist our fans in exercising their constitutional right to vote,” said Texans President Jamey Rootes.
The Houston Astros were the first of the local professional teams to participate, hosting Vasquez’s voter registration team on August 7th. On Saturday, September 19th, the voter registration team will be at the Houston Dynamo’s match with Real Salt Lake. The Rockets are looking at a home date in January 2010 for their voter registration game day.
